A MASKED thug pounced on two teenagers in a terrifying New Year's Day attack.

The boys, who are both 16, were roughed up by the thief at around 4.45am in McLaurin Crescent, Johnstone.

The unknown crook approached both boys, then pushed them against a wall and threatened them, before searching them for anything valuable.

The thug made off with both boys' mobile phones.

Cops have now launched a hunt for the masked crook, who is said to have been wearing a black hooded top to cover his face and a black and white jumper.

The teens were uninjured, but badly shaken in the attack.
