Star-struck pupils at a Barrhead school have been given an exclusive taste of the magical world of pantomime.

A total of 20 children from Cross Arthurlie Primary swapped their classroom for the glitzy world of showbiz in a choreography workshop delivered by the team producing Cinderella at Eastwood Park Theatre, in Giffnock.

They won the chance to take part in the workshop thanks to their teacher Joanna McMillan, who entered a competition run by East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure.

The prize was for a nominated class to win a trip to see Cinderella, a meet-and-greet with the cast, a backstage tour and the choreography masterclass.

The Cross Arthurlie class was chosen at random from more than 1,500 entries.

Cinderella is being staged by Glasgow Academy Musical Theatre Arts and the show’s choreographer Georgina Mannifield, musical director Kerry Quinn and theatre director Tom Cooper accompanied some of the performers to the school.

Headteacher Fiona MacDonald told the Barrhead News: “The children thoroughly enjoyed the experience and they came alive when they were with the performers.

“It was a great opportunity to celebrate the arts.”

Cinderella can be seen at Eastwood Park Theatre from now until December 30.
