BARRHEAD residents went in search of festive bargains on Saturday as the town hosted a Christmas market.

The fun event saw locals head along to The Market Place to browse through a host of stalls selling gifts and seasonal goodies.

Various traders and community groups from across the Barrhead community were able to use the event to showcase their products.

Among them was the team from the Barrhead Men’s Shed, who set up a stall selling handmade items such as clocks, as well as decorations that will be ideal for a Christmas tree.

They also sold planters made by talented members of the group at their regular gatherings.

Small start-up businesses and entrepreneurs made the most of the Christmas market, with visitors purchasing the likes of handmade jewellery, photoframes, cookery products and lots more.

Before the afternoon event concluded, a raffle took place, with Christmas coming early for three lucky winners.

They cashed in their winning tickets for hampers full of Christmas goodies after the draw was made.

Staff at The Market Place were delighted by how the day panned out, with lots of positive feedback from stallholders who welcomed locals through the doors in great numbers.
