A MAJOR curling rink in Renfrewshire is to close due to a "decline in the number of people involved in the sport".
Bosses at intu Braehead, in Renfrew, have announced the centre's rink will shut at the end of the current season in March 2020.
They say they haven't taken the decision lightly and are working with the impacted clubs to find them a new home.
Centre director for intu Braehead, Peter Beagley, said: “It is with deep regret that we have today announced the closure of the curling rink at intu Braehead.
“We haven’t taken this decision lightly, however with the declining numbers of people involved in the sport, we have had to increasingly subsidise the rink over the past 20 years which is something we can’t continue to do."
