Members of a Barrhead golf club collected a ‘fore-midable’ sum of money as they staged their annual charity fundraiser.

Almost 150 people took part in Captain’s Day at Fereneze Golf Club.

And, the following day, the club hosted a ladies’ lunch to further boost the coffers, with more than 80 people going along to offer their support.

A combined total of £4,000 was raised for the Beatson Cancer Charity.

This was the third year in a row that the captain’s charity was the Beatson and brings the fundraising total over that period to an impressive £9,500.

To add to that, the club has designated one of the hazards on the Fereneze course as ‘the Beatson Bunker,’ whereby any member who lands their ball there must donate £1 to the worthy cause.

Fereneze Golf Club captain Ian McArthur said: “I am delighted that, over the last three years, we have raised this amount for the Beatson Cancer Charity.

“Hopefully, over the next few years, we can contribute more to this extremely worthwhile cause.”

The week after the Captain’s Day event, fFour Fereneze members also took on the Longest Day Challenge for McMillan Cancer Care, raising £5,030.
