A CAMPAIGN to install public access defibrillators across Barrhead has taken another step forward.
For the past year, members of the Levern Valley Defibrillator Community Partnership (LVDCP) have been working tirelessly to have the lifesaving PAD devices put in place at a number of venues across the town.
Now the latest addition has been unveiled outside the Masonic Lodge, in Cochrane Street, with help from the group’s electrical contractor Field Electrics, of Neilston.
Douglas Yates, LVDCP chairman, told the Barrhead News: “It’s amazing to think that, from a standing start last August, there are so many public access defibrillators already installed throughout Barrhead.

“This will be a lifesaving resource for the people living in or visiting our community.”
A further 23 devices have been put in place thanks to East Renfrewshire Council’s decision to invest £25,000 in the equipment, which is available to members of the public 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The LVDCP group is also running Heart Start defibrillator awareness courses in the Barrhead area, which local residents are invited to attend.
