THE deputy leader of East Renfrewshire Council has been selected by Labour to stand in the Renfrewshire South seat at the 2021 Scottish Parliament elections.
Paul O’Kane was picked by the local Labour group to contest the seat for the second time after he lost out to the SNP’s Tom Arthur in 2016.
The Neilston-native charity worker has served on East Renfrewshire Council since 2012.
Councillor O’Kane said: “I am deeply honoured to have once again been chosen by colleagues and friends from across Renfrewshire South to be our candidate.

“I am ready for the campaign ahead and reaching out to all parts of this community.
“Having campaigned across Johnstone, Linwood, Elderslie and our village communities over many years, I know the challenges we face but I also know what makes Renfrewshire South such a great place to live.
"I want to represent all our towns and villages in the Scottish Parliament and work every day to make life even better for everyone who lives here.”
