DRAMATIC images have emerged of a blaze taking hold of gorse in Barrhead.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was called last night to tackle the inferno which was in an open grass area, near to Fereneze Avenue.
There were no casualties but images from our reader Mr McDougall, who lives on the town's Main Street, show the intensity of the blaze.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman told the Barrhead News: “We were alerted at 9.10pm on Monday, September 16 to reports of a fire in the open in Barrhead.
“Operations Control mobilised one fire engine to the town’s Fereneze Avenue, where firefighters were met by a well-developed fire which had taken hold of a section of gorse.
“Firefighters extinguished the fire and left the scene after making the area safe.
“There were no casualties.”
