AN awards scheme which honoured Barrhead’s unsung heroes has been praised at Holyrood.
A number of local people, organisations and businesses were in the spotlight as the inaugural All About Barrhead Awards took place in May.
Now the initiative, organised by Barrhead’s Business Improvement District (BID), has been highlighted at the Scottish Parliament.

The town’s MSP, Tom Arthur, presented BID manager Andy Dunlop with a copy of a motion he raised at Holyrood in recognition of the awards’ success.
Mr Arthur, who represents Renfrewshire South, said: “I was delighted to present a copy of my parliamentary motion recognising the fantastic inaugural All About Barrhead Awards.
“I was able to attend the event and witness the celebration of excellence within the local community and I hope it becomes an annual event in Barrhead’s calendar.
