A TEAM of cyclists covering 458 gruelling miles from Aberdeen to Darlington stopped off for a breather in East Renfrewshire to collect a charity cheque, writes David Carnduff.
The Kwik Fit staff have been taking part in a nationwide charity challenge and visited the company’s branch in Giffnock, where colleagues raised £450 for Children with Cancer UK.
More than 80 employees signed up for the ‘Tour de Branch’ – making a commitment to cycle to more than 120 Kwik Fit centres and covering 2,500 miles along the way.
That distance is 300 miles longer than the famous Tour de France cycle race.
Paul Boulton, operations director at Kwik Fit, told the Barrhead News: “We are delighted to be supporting Children with Cancer UK this year and what a fantastic effort our team are putting in.
“I’d like to thank all of the local supporters who have been cheering the riders on as we make our way through Scotland.
“All money raised by the Tour de Branch will go towards our £1million target, helping Children with Cancer UK continue their brilliant and indispensable work.”
