Families basked in glorious sunshine as they flocked to Neilston Fun Day, writes David Carnduff.

The latest instalment of the annual event took place on Saturday, with people of all ages going along.

A host of attractions were on offer, including live music, games, crafts, face painting, inflatables and a beat-the-goalie contest.

Anna Kerr, one of the event organisers, told the Barrhead News: “A measure of the day’s success was that we ran out of hot dogs after just two hours.

“That’s never happened to us before in the five years it has been running.”

Cash from the Nicer Neilston fund helped to pay for the event.

Anna added: “Originally, £25,000 was up for grabs, so we put in a bid along with other local groups.

“We were very fortunate to be awarded £1,000 and that funded what turned out to be a very successful free event which was enjoyed by everyone. We also struck it lucky with the weather, which was great.”
