TEENAGER robbers hit a young boy over the head with a weapon to steal his mobile phone and a bank card.

Detectives are now hunting for the robbing duo who mugged the 15-year-old in Darnley in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The attack happened between 1.30am and 2am when the victim was walking along Nitshill Road, near to Corselet Road with his friend when two boys approached him and hit him on the head with a weapon.

The Barrhead News understands that the teenage thugs used an axe during the attack.

They then took his mobile phone and bank card before making off along Corselet Road.

The victim was then helped by two men and a woman who were within a three-door silver or grey coloured car which had pulled into a nearby restaurant car park. He later attended the hospital to be treated for a head injury.

The suspects are described as being aged between 14 and 16. One was wearing a blue coloured Lacoste tracksuit and had his face covered with a scarf or mask, the other one was wearing dark coloured clothing.

Detective Constable Christopher Sneddon, Govan Police Office, said: “This was a terrifying attack on a young man and it is vital that we trace those responsible.

“We are particularly keen to speak to those who were within the the silver/grey coloured car who assisted the 15 year-old boy and gave him a lift home. He may have information that can help us in our enquiry.

“If this was you, we encourage you to get in touch.

“We would also ask anyone else who may have been in the area at the time and may have seen anything to come forward.”
