A MAN is due to appear in court today in connection with an attempted robbery at a Post Office. 

Frightened workers at the Glasgow Road shop in Paisley were forced to hit their panic alarm when a man allegedly launched an armed robbery bid. 

He is said to have threatened the 60-year-old shop owner with a weapon as he stood behind a glass counter.

Shocked customers watched in horror before the man made off empty handed at around 11.15am. 

Staff and members of the public weren't hurt during the incident but are believed to have been left badly shaken.

The 46-year-old accused was later spotted by officers on patrol in Paisley and arrested on suspicion of assault and intent to rob.

He will appear in Paisley Sheriff Court later today.
