YOUNGSTERS have been having an ace time getting into the swing of their tennis summer camp.
Giffnock Tennis, Squash and Hockey Club has been hosting a number of camps throughout the summer season to encourage children to stay active whilst off for the school holidays and boost their love for sports.
And Mark Malcolm and Craig Williams, the brains behind the programme, have been running the camps.
Mark, 39, told the Barrhead News: “Craig and I run the summer camps which cater for kids aged between five and 16-years-old and it is for members and non-members.
“We hold a morning session, an afternoon session, or if the kids want to, they can come to the club all day.
“During the week, we also run a nursery camp, which is for three and four year old to learn the basics of tennis.
“Throughout the sessions, we will teach the kids some of the techniques - these include forehand, back hand and learning how to score.
“We also get them involved in team games.
“We had the Barrhead News photographer came along, I was teaching the group how to serve, whilst another group was taking part in a team game.
“When the schools go back, we have a term time programme that caters for the members of the club, and free coaching is included in the membership.”
