A BARRHEAD girl is over the moon after donating her long locks to a children’s charity.
Darci McClure, 7, who is a pupil at Hillview Primary School, had 12 inches of her hair chopped on Tuesday, July 30 at Fringe Benefit hairdressing salon on Aurs Drive.
And her mum, Carrie, is “immensely proud” of the seven-year-old, after raising more than £310.

She told the Barrhead News: “Darci had been wanting her hair cut for a while and she had heard about the Little Princess Trust - she then asked me if she could do it for the charity.
“I didn’t want her to get her hair cut because it was so long but because she was doing it for the Little Princess Trust, we thought we could also do some fundraising for the Beatson Cancer Charity which is very close to our hearts right now.
“We recently lost my grandfather to cancer and we have another member of my family who is really ill with cancer.
“I didn’t think it would get so much sponsorship.
“It has been a wee bit of a shock, but it’s been amazing.
“Darci had 12 inches of hair cut off, which works out as one whole foot.
“I am just so proud of her doing something so selfless for two different charities.
“I would like to thank everyone, from both me and Darci, for their sponsorships so far.”
The Little Princess Trust gives free wigs to children who need them because they have lost their own hair from treatment and also funds research into childhood cancer, supporting the development of less aggressive and less toxic treatments.
Wendy Tarplee-Morris, Research Manager, from the charity, said: “As a charity who rely solely on the kindness of our donors we are incredibly grateful to Darci for choosing to support The Little Princess Trust.

“The hair and financial donations we receive enable us to provide beautiful wigs to children and young people with hair loss.
“It is particularly touching when someone as young as Darci chooses to make such a personal sacrifice to help other children.
“On behalf of everyone at The Little Princess Trust I would like to say a big thank you to Darci."
