POLICE are appealing for information after specially adapted pedal bikes were stolen from a Barrhead school.
On Wednesday, July 31, it is understood that someone robbed the grounds of Carlibar Primary School and took nine of the adapted bikes, which are used by pupils with additional support needs.
Officers have confirmed that three of the bikes had been recovered from a wooded area close to the school and are continuing their enquiries and encourage anyone with information to contact 101.
Sgt Michael Morgenthaler, of Giffnock police office, told the Barrhead News: “At Carlibar Primary School, there is a section for children and young people with additional support needs. They had a number of specially adapted pedal cycles.
“They had a total of nine of these pedal cycles - these were stolen from the playground between 5pm and 6pm and they are valued at £1500.
“They were being used by a summer club held at the school.
“Three of the pedal bikes have so far been recovered, and they were found near by in a wooded area - six of them are still out-standing.
“Enquiries are ongoing into the theft, however, we would ask those who may have seen any of these distinctive bikes,abandoned in the local area to contact Police Scotland via ‘101’ quoting the crime reference number GC00140819 - they have the make “Winther” on their frames.”
