GARDENERS across East Renfrewshire are reporting a butterfly bonanza this summer with large numbers of the insects on the hunt for nectar rich flowers.
It follows a huge influx of the migratory Painted Lady butterflies into the country since the weekend.
Many arrive every summer but experts say this has been a phenomenal year for the butterflies which migrate all the way from Africa.
One Barrhead gardener said: “I have dozens in my garden - I have never seen so many. They are very colourful and great to see.”
“They are particularly attracted to buddleias which, appropriately, are also known as the ‘butterfly bush’.”
