Police have confirmed the identity of a man who was found dead on Monday evening in north Glasgow. 

Officers recovered a body of a man from the water at Spiers Wharf, Glasgow, at around 6.40pm in the evening. 

Following a post-mortem, it has been confirmed that he is John Connelly, 28, who was reported missing from Milton last week.

Mr Connelly was last seen on Cathay Street in the area on Monday, July 15. 

Following an examination of his body, the death is being treated as unexplained. 

A major search was launched for John last week after the alarm was raised. 

Officers are continuing to carry out enquiries to find out exactly what happened to Mr Connelly.

An appeal has been launched for anyone who was in the area of Spiers Wharf on the night of Monday, July 15, 2019 between 8pm and 11pm.

Those with information are encouraged to get in touch with officers via 101, quoting incident number 3452 of Monday 22 July 2019.
