SCHOOLKIDS from Neilston joined forces in a bid to raise awareness of the need for safer journeys in the area.
Pupils at St Thomas’ Primary and Neilston Primary took part in a nationwide protest as they marched through the village.
The good-natured event was in support of road safety charity Brake’s Kids Walk, which saw 63,000 children across the UK leave the classroom for a day to call for better safety measures.

Children were led by campus cops as they set off from their respective school, made their way along Main Street, waving banners and singing songs as they went, and ended up at Kingston Playing Fields.
Once there, they were greeted by members of the emergency services, who spoke to them about road safety. Kids also got the chance to enjoy some fun activities.
The event was organised by Neilston Primary teacher Michael Connorwood and Louise Major, of St Thomas’ Primary.
Michael said: “It was such a beautiful afternoon and a great way to bring the community together.

“It was brilliant to see parents and grandparents involved and the pupils just loved it.
“The event gets a good message across to the kids about safety issues.
“Tesco kindly donated some snacks for the pupils, who were able to have a munch after the walk as they listened to the talks.
“We are thankful for that.”
