FLAGS are flying proudly over Neilston Primary School and Madras Family Centre, thanks to a donation from housebuilder Taylor Wimpey.

The company’s donation of three flagpoles means pupils are now able to hoist three flags to welcome guests to the school and family centre campus.

The trio of flags display the school’s core values, which are to be safe, ready, honest, respectful, ambitious and responsible.

One flag is also dedicated to the school’s various successes, including its Sports Scotland Award and Eco School status, as well as promoting the fact it is a Fairtrade School.

Andrew Howie, principal teacher at the school and family centre, told the Barrhead News: “We are extremely grateful for the support that we have received from Taylor Wimpey and we can’t thank them enough for their generous donation of three flagpoles.

“We had three great flags but no way of displaying them, so we can now fly them with pride.”

Kirsty McGill, head of sales at Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, said the company was delighted to support the school and family centre through the somewhat unusual donation.

She added: “We are equally proud that we have been able to step in to assist both in the provision of the flagpoles and their installation.

“The work we do is a lot more than just building high-quality homes.

“Being able to work with local businesses and organisations that surround our housing developments means a great deal to us and it’s great to know that we are helping to make a difference to the lives of people in local communities.”

The company’s donation is one of the many being made by the housebuilder towards community facilities and infrastructure in the wider area.
