BARRHEAD kids will be jumping for joy after East Renfrewshire Council unveiled ambitious plans to improve play areas around Dunterlie Community Centre.

Over the next few months, local residents will be asked for their suggestions on how the local authority can best develop recreation areas in that part of town.

The investment comes after the ADD2Barrhead Locality Plan was drawn up, which includes a commitment to improving the town’s physical environment and green spaces.

Councillor Colm Merrick, East Renfrewshire’s community services and community safety convener, said: “This investment in Dunterlie is fantastic news for the area.

“Dunterlie already has an active and engaged community and these upgrades will help to encourage more use of the park.

“I would like to thank everyone who participated in the Making Places project. Through our Locality Plan, we are committed to working with community members to identify needs, so I am delighted to see this in action and I’m sure it will achieve positive results for the people of Barrhead.”

The council has pledged to continue working with the community and other partners, through the Locality Plan, to come up with practical steps that address their priorities.
