BARRHEAD commuters are experiencing 'major disruption' to train services as a result of a signalling fault.
ScotRail chiefs have confirmed trains travelling from Glasgow Central to East Renfrewshire are affected with disruption expected to last until 9pm tonight.
As well as Barrhead, services to Neilston and Clarkston are also subject to delay and cancellation.
ScotRail say: "Because of a fault with the signalling system between Glasgow Central and Crossmyloof, disruption is expected to last until around 21:00 today.
"We have an ongoing signalling issue in the Muirhouse area. Our staff on site need a bit more time to work on the fault and we're sorry but we will need to alter, delay or cancel some more services than expected for a short while.
"To Keep you moving we have ticket acceptance in place with the following local bus suppliers, at no extra cost."
ScotRail tickets will be valid on FirstBus services, while Network Rail engineers attempt to fix the problem.
