GENEROUS ladies from Neilston Masonic Hall organised an afternoon tea to coin in cash for families affected by suicide.
Dozens of people packed out the venue for a day of great food, Prosecco, music and a good old natter with friends in aid of the charity Beautiful Inside and Out.
And the event raised more than £1,000 for the worthy cause, which supports bereaved parents and siblings of suicide victims.
Cathy Brenchley, organiser of the event, said she was delighted with the amount raised.
She told the Barrhead News: “There was a wee boy who took his own life recently who was close to all of our hearts, so we thought it was important to raise money for Beautiful Inside and Out.
“We wanted to try to help the charity get extra counsellors so that people have got someone to go to if they aren’t feeling good about themselves.
“We decided to hold an afternoon tea and everyone enjoyed a glass of Prosecco, listening to background music and having a chat. We also had a raffle.
“Everyone had a great time and we had new people coming along who said they would be keen to come along next year, as we will hold some sort of fundraiser again then.
“I was really impressed with how much we raised.
“I would like to thank all the ladies who attended and all those who donated raffle prizes and money.”
On Saturday, fundraisers from the Masonic Hall presented a cheque to Jacqueline Malone, of Beautiful Inside and Out.
The charity was set up by Pauline Moriarty in 2013 following the death of her 13-year-old daughter Jenna.
