DETECTIVES investigating a brutal attack which has left a man scarred for life have issued an appeal for information.

The 44-year-old victim was targeted by a thug armed with a bladed weapon in the Carnwadric area at around 9pm last night.

Police said the attacker, who was dressed in white, then fled from the scene, heading towards the Thornliebank area.

Emergency services were called and the victim was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, in Glasgow, for treatment to "significant" facial injuries.

Detective Constable Paul McKenna said: “The victim will be scarred for life as a result of this attack and we are investigating the possibility that it was targeted.

“The area would have been reasonably busy around the time of the incident and I would appeal to anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious or noticed a man dressed in white to please come forward.

“I would also urge any motorists with dash-cams to check their footage in case they have captured anything which could be of significance to our enquiries."

The attack took place in Bangorshill Street, near to Kiloran Street, and anyone who has information is asked to call the police via 101, quoting incident number 4545 of Thursday, May 23. Alternatively, ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, where details can be given in confidence.
