PEOPLE of all ages laced up their running shoes on Saturday to take part in the iconic Neilston Pad Race.
The 4.5-mile event was staged in the panoramic surroundings of Scotland’s sixth highest village, with entrants able to either take part competitively or as a light-hearted fun run.
A number of trophies were handed out at the finish line, with the fastest male, female and under-21 runners among those being honoured.
There were also prizes for the fastest male and female veteran runners.
And everyone who crossed the finish line was able to enjoy refreshments.
The event, which was held under UK Athletics rules, attracted entrants from across East Renfrewshire and beyond.
Micky Anderson, who organised the event, told the Barrhead News: “There were 50 runners this year – it was a really good turnout.
“I took part in the race as well.
“Our youngest runner was Charlie Evans, who has just turned 16. He came home in 20th place, with Neilston’s own Graeme Orr not fair behind, who made it look easy at a sprightly 71.
“All of the runners received a race rosette at the finish and Kelburn Brewery provided bottles of Sunriser ale as prizes for overall and category winners.”
Micky added: “We look forward to welcoming everyone back next year and a massive thanks go to the competitors, the marshals, the Agricultural Society and Kelburn Brewery.”
