THE shortlist for the 2019 East Renfrewshire Business Awards has been unveiled, with 27 firms making the cut across eight categories.

Organised by East Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce, the awards aim to showcase the area’s best businesses and celebrate their success.

Laura Molloy, president of East Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce, said: “Our thanks go to all those who entered this year’s awards.

“The judges were extremely impressed by the professionalism and quality of businesses operating in East Renfrewshire. They deliberated long and have had to make some very tough decisions.

“May we also thank the sponsors for their input as, without them, the awards would not be possible.”

Four finalists are in the running for the prestigious title of East Renfrewshire’s Best Business.

Barrhead contractors George Leslie Ltd, who scooped two prizes in last year’s awards, are hoping for further success but face stiff competition from Blue Bird Care, CQ Services Ltd and The Busby Hotel.

Battling it out for the Best Home-Based Business Award are Articulate (Scotland) Limited, Sword Finance & Investments and The Other One.

The finalists in the Developing East Renfrewshire’s Young Workforce category are BAM Construction Ltd, Greenhouse CIC and The Avenue Shopping Centre.

Shortlisted entries for the Family Business Award are Aldomak Ltd, Creature Comforts and I-Kick Martial Arts.

The Excellence in Customer Service Award will go to either The Avenue Shopping Centre, Home Instead Senior Care, Speedy Freight, The Busby Hotel or Uplawmoor Hotel.

Finalists in the Most Promising New Business category are CQ Services Ltd, MCC Accountants, Pure Lubrication Limited and Shanta Residential.

The Community Impact Award is being contested by All About Barrhead, Greenhouse CIC and Voluntary Action East Renfrewshire.

The remaining category is Best New Product or Service, which is a shootout between Kidnetick, Pure Lubrication Limited and The Other One.

Winners will be announced at an awards dinner at the Dalmeny Park Hotel, in Barrhead, on Thursday, June 6, hosted by well-known actress Elaine C Smith.
