A ROAD in East Renfrewshire has been closed as police investigate an incident which left a man injured.
Officers have shut Crookfur Road, between Harvie Avenue and Abercorn Road, in Newton Mearns, after receiving reports of a 36-year-old man being assaulted.
He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, in Glasgow, for treatment following the incident, which took place at around 12.30pm today, near to St Cadoc's Primary School.
It is understood his injuries are not life-threatening.
A police spokeswoman said: "We received a report of a 36-year-old man having be assaulted on Crookfur Road, Newton Mearns.
"Emergency service attended, and he was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital to be treated for his injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening.
"Inquiries are ongoing."
