BLOOMING great fun was on offer as families flocked to an East Renfrewshire daffodil festival.

There was a large turnout at the inaugural Greenbank Garden Daffodil Festival, which provided a colourful celebration of springtime.

Those who went along were able to enjoy a selection of the 600 different daffodils that bloom at the Clarkston venue.

Morag Taylor, of the Friends of Greenbank Garden, told the Barrhead News: “The event was a huge success and the daffodils on show were magnificent.

“Greenbank Garden has been growing and cutting daffodils for more than 30 years and, this year, it was decided to leave them uncut.

“It really made the self-guided tours something special.

“The daffodils had various colours on show and we had wonderful support from everyone who came along.”

Morag is also keen to hear from anyone who would like to help out at Greenbank Garden on a voluntary basis.

She said: “Whether in the tearoom or the garden, volunteers are always welcome.

“Age or ability is never a problem and enthusiasm is always encouraged.”

Greenbank Garden is run by the National Trust for Scotland.
