ONE of Scotland’s top stand-up comedians will take centre stage in East Renfrewshire this weekend.

Raymond Mearns is coming to town to tickle some funnybones with his latest show ‘Confession of a Control Freak.’

The fun takes place at Eastwood Park Theatre, in Giffnock, on Friday, starting at 7.30pm.

A spokesperson for the show said: “Nobody really wants to see a film or read a book about a person who had a great life, was successful in their career and lucky in love, right?

“It’s far more interesting to hear about somebody who has made a rip-roaring mess of themselves and mucked everything up.

“That’s just another day in the life of Raymond Mearns. He might be wrong but he’ll never admit it, which is an essential character defect for a successful career in stand-up comedy.

“You may have seen him on television in Limmy’s Show or heard him on BBC Radio Scotland’s Breaking the News but what you might not know is that Raymond Mearns has been one of Scotland’s top live stand-up comedians for the past 15 years.”

Among those who have praised Mearns for his live shows is fellow Scots funnyman Kevin Bridges, while Frankie Boyle has described him as an “improvisational genius.”
