THE first annual I Love Clarkston Community Awards was a roaring success.
The town’s local Business Improvement District (BID) held the event on Friday at the Redhurst Hotel, with seven main categories being awarded and a runner-up prize.
Celebrating the great individuals, organisations and businesses of the town, guests were invited along the red-carpet entrance, with a paparazzi-style greeting, before being treated to a three-course meal.
BID Chair John Paul Reilly said: “We’re happy to see how well the night has went. It’s been great to see such a cross section of the community in attendance and be recognised for their hard work. We’re committed to this becoming an annual event and are in discussions to confirm a date for the 2020 event already.
"We can’t wait to see what next year brings.”
Winners from the night included Iain Winters, who was awarded the Clarkston Community Champion title for his work as a lollipop man at Carolside Primary School.
The Heart of Clarkston Award was given to Kyle Bremner, who had been nominated by friends, family, teachers and members of the community after raising tens of thousands for a number of charities.
Bluebird Care was awarded the National Business of the Year, as voted by the members of the public.
