A PAIR of Barrhead brothers who have helped millions of children learn about maths have celebrated 25 years in business.

Tom and John Strang founded Teejay Publishing in 1994 to produce maths books and support materials for Scottish schools.

Prior to going into business together, Tom was head of maths at Clydebank High School, while John worked as a computer analyst.

Over the last 25 years, their company has produced 54 books and more than 100 support packages, supplied to almost every primary and secondary school in Scotland.

Despite this, the company consists of only four people. John does all the admin and ordering, ensuring the business runs smoothly, while Tom, along with maths teachers James Cairns and Jim Geddes, produce all the writing.

The team from Teejay Publishing celebrated the 25-year milestone by throwing a party for family and friends at Fereneze Golf Club.

John said: “These maths textbook have motivated and inspired a generation of young people to understand the complexities of maths and have also made it fun and achievable, due to their colourful presentation and imaginative content.”
