A CLASS aimed at helping East Renfrewshire kids develop their balance skills and spatial awareness has been a sell-out success.

Wee Wobblers, founded by Scott McIntosh, offers a six-week block for children aged from two-and-a-half upwards.

For beginners, there is guidance on how to use a balance bike safely, with youngsters being taught how to glide, steer and stop successfully.

Sessions organised for those at a more advanced level focus on developing skills further, with the aim of having each child riding their own pedal bike by the end of the block of lessons.

On Saturday, youngsters from the Newton Mearns area took part in a class at Parklands Country Club, run by instructor Andy Mack.

Scott told the Barrhead News: “I created Wee Wobblers in January 2018 and it has been going from strength to strength.

“We have classes in Newton Mearns, Paisley, Renfrew, Kilmarnock and Hamilton. These have been selling out all year, which gave me the confidence to train up new instructors and go into new areas.

“When I set it up, I wanted the kids to have fun while learning to ride their bikes.

“It’s great to see the kids learning.”

Hundreds of youngsters have completed a block of classes over the past year, with more than 90 per cent of them going on to ride their bikes unaided.
