A COMIC book owner and Dyslexia Scotland visited an East Renfrewshire church for a workshop on how comics can help with children’s development.
DEKKO Comics, based in Kirkintilloch, and the charity visited Orchardhill Parish Church in Giffnock, where 40 kids and their parents attended the workshop.
Rossie Stone, owner of DEKKO Comics, led the workshop and helped kids learn how to overcome their struggles at school with dyslexia.
He said: "'It was really inspiring for me personally to be in a room full of people not just throwing themselves into the workshop but also excited to try different ways of learning.
"What I'm trying to do is show how powerful entertainment can be in making most dull information become natural and engaging for even some of the most struggling pupils."
Organiser Shona Cook, a volunteer for the East Renfrewshire branch of Dyslexia Scotland, said the event was a “fantastic success.”
She added: “It was really good. I have two daughters with dyslexia and, in school, they struggled but this type of workshop is really helpful.
“It was a fantastic success and Rossie spoke and interacted with every child who was there.”
