A SERVICE supporting children and adults with learning disabilities celebrated its 15th birthday.
ENABLE Scotland’s Local Area Co-ordination (LAC) works with individuals and families to help people with a learning or physical disability to make friends, learn and play an active part in East Renfrewshire and their local communities.
Established in 2004, the group now helps around 150 individuals and family members.
Susan Rigg found the help given by the LAC invaluable.
She said: “I have two sons with additional support needs, and for quite a long time I had been struggling to get proper support.
“I was introduced to the LAC group and they are able to give me a lot more confidence. I was very emotionally involved but the ENABLE Scotland co-ordinator was able strip that emotion away and help to address the points.
"Without them, I think I would have just given up as it was becoming too difficult.”
Theresa Shearer, CEO of ENABLE Scotland, added: “I wish the group a very happy birthday and hope to see their rewarding work continue.”
