The incident is understood to have taken place sometime late on Saturday night or early on Sunday.

Mr Johnson said: “My garage was broken into and four bikes were stolen and [the] car is gone as well.

“The bikes are pretty distinctive and not that common, so hopefully they might pop up for sale somewhere.”

He also shared pictures of the bikes in the hope that someone might recognise them. Police have confirmed an investigation is underway.

Sergeant Michael Morgenthaler, who is based at Giffnock Police Office, said: “Two of the bikes that were taken are valued at four figures and a car from the household was also stolen.

“Across East Renfrewshire, there have been other house break-ins and attempts to break in – predominantly in the Eaglesham area – and we are currently following positive lines of enquiries in relation to that.”

Anyone who has information that can help officers with their investigation is asked to call 101. Alternatively, ring Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, where information can be passed on anonymously.
