A BARRHEAD community project has been awarded a four-figure sum from the STV Children’s Appeal.

The Include Me 2 Club, which provides a range of activities to “engage, empower and inspire” children and adults with disabilities and additional support needs, has received a £2,000 windfall.

It comes just a few weeks after the people behind the project, Paul and Ashley McIlvenny, were named as this year’s winners of the Provost’s Award.

Paul said: “Everyone connected with the charity is delighted to have been selected to receive this grant, which will be hugely beneficial and enable us to continue providing weekly activities and outings for children and young people.”

Launched in 2010, the Include Me 2 Club now has more than 150 members who attend each week and more than 30 volunteers.

Sir Tom Hunter, trustee of the STV Children’s Appeal, said: “Change comes from individuals, communities and charities with the commitment and drive to make a difference.

“We at the STV Children’s Appeal are delighted to support Include Me 2 and want to reiterate our thanks to those who raised funds.”
