A TWIST on a traditional tale is set to be enjoyed by audiences at an East Renfrewshire theatre this month.

Coming to Eastwood Theatre, ‘Jack and the Beanstalk II: Return of the Farmer’ will revisit the old fairytale we all know and love, whilst also inviting panto fans to enjoy a new adventure.

Starring Joshua Aitken, Ross Mann, Kim Allan and River City’s Sarah McCardie, the original Christmas show is being brought to the Giffnock stage by renowned Scottish theatre talents.

Written and composed by Andy McGregor, the story centres around Jack McJack, who is now living a life of fame, fortune and fanciness.

He owns Giffnock’s most successful supermarket and everything is going his way – until the trickster of a farmer who gave him his magic beans returns and demands his share of the profits.

Jack recalls the story of his heroic trip to the top of the beanstalk, before facing the farmer in an epic showdown.

The show runs from Tuesday, December 11, until Sunday, December 30, and tickets are on sale now.

There will be a dedicated British Sign Language-interpreted show on Friday, December 21, at 7.30pm, and a ‘relaxed’ performance for audience members with additional support needs on Saturday, December 15, at 1pm.

Anthony McReavy, of East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure, said: “Our Christmas show is full of fun, with lots of laughs and local references to keep the family entertained.”

Tickets cost £11 (standard), £8 (concessions) and £35 (family of four).
