POLICE in East Renfrewshire are urging residents not to leave cars unattended while the engine is running in the winter.
When temperatures begin to plummet, people often leave their key in the ignition to try and heat up the car but police have warned that this could provide a perfect scenario for opportunist thieves to slip in and drive off.
If anyone sees anything suspicious they are asked to call 101 immediately or 999 in an emergency.
