A BARRHEAD company has been praised for its continued support to young people.

Jennifer Phin, managing director of A.C. Whyte & Co, was invited to Holyrood for the Business in Parliament Conference, where she was welcomed by Renfrewshire South MSP Tom Arthur.

The conference brings businesses and politicians together and this year’s theme focused on 2018 as the Year of Young People.

A.C. Whyte is a contracting firm which delivers major refurbishment to social housing for local authorities and housing associations.

This year, the company, based at Crossmill Business Park, launched a partnership with West College Scotland to help 12 students learn skills to become fully-qualified external wall insulators.

Mr Arthur said: “It was an honour to be able to welcome Jennifer to the Scottish Parliament for this important event to support businesses.

“A.C. Whyte has done tremendous work in supporting young people and has a real commitment to enabling them to develop skills required by the business industry.

“Events such as these are an opportunity to engage businesses in discussion about how to encourage sustainable growth in the economy.”
