BARRHEAD’S foodbank has secured a £500 donation, thanks to East Renfrewshire Council.
As part of the council’s community benefits initiative, suppliers who win any major contracts must support local causes.
And, as a result of electrical distributor Rexel UK being awarded a contract to supply the council’s housing service with electrical supplies, some much-needed funds have been handed to East Renfrewshire’s foodbank.
Councillor Danny Devlin, housing and maintenance services convener, said: “We are dedicated to ensuring local residents benefit from any significant council investment and I am pleased that, through this work, we have also been able to provide a donation to the foodbank.
“They provide a vital service to our most vulnerable residents and this money will help them continue to make a real difference.”
Stan Esson, the foodbank’s warehouse manager, added: “We are hugely grateful to Rexel and the council for this donation.”
