JON Boden is heading north of the border with his sweet folk sounds.

The composer and musician – best known as lead singer of 11-piece Bellowhead – will play at Milngavie Folk Club later this month.

Jon, from Sheffield, has been the recipient of an impressive 11 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards – more than any other musician, making him truly one of most notable traditional musicians of current times.

He is touring venues throughout Scotland as a solo musician to showcase self-penned work from two solo albums as well as some traditional folk songs thrown in for good measure. Jon’s first instrument is the fiddle and he is a leading proponent of ‘fiddle singing’, as well as being known for the use of his trademark stomp box.

He said: “I am so excited to play to Scottish audiences, it’s been such a long time since I performed up here but I will never forget the warm welcome I received.

“It’s been such a fun journey over the last few years focusing on my own material and making my first two solo albums.

“I hope the people of Milngavie enjoy the new work.”

Jon will play Milngavie Folk Club on Friday, September 28. For more information, go to jonboden.com.
