A NEW bus for Barrhead youngsters, aimed at combating youth disorder and vandalism, took to the roads this week in 2008.
The new ‘Wee G’ bus was developed by Strathclyde Police, Stagecoach and East Renfrewshire Council following concerns of rising youth disorder and vandalism in the area.
The bus featured state-of-theart technology, including wi-fi laptops, an iPod system and modern gaming equipment and games.
Constable Colin Laidlaw said: “This is a really worthwhile project and thanks to the kind contribution from Stagecoach it is set to continue having a positive impact in the community. “I know local young people will look forward to using the new bus. It’s a great way for them to socialise and get to know one another, often forgetting the differences that can sometimes prevent them from making friends.”
