Tessa Violet is going to rule the world. Trust me.
If you’re not familiar with the name, she is a singer/songwriter from the United States, as well as a YouTuber.
At least that’s how Wikipedia describes her.
I would describe her as beyond talented, kind, really sweet and wonderfully great to talk to.
And how do I know? Because I, on my pokey little radio show on a Sunday evening, spoke to Tessa Violet!
I talked to her about her single Crush and so much more.
Allow me fill you in on a little behind-the-scenes secret. When I do an interview, whether it’s live or pre-recorded, there are always a few moments I get alone with the interviewee. It’s one of my favourite things about this job, especially if it’s someone I admire.
It’s just a few moments for me to tell them I appreciate their work.
And, within seconds of meeting Tessa, we were talking like we’d known each other for years.
I told her about the warm weather we’ve had and the lack of air conditioning in the UK – and she was very understanding.
Considering that she’s currently in Los Angeles, she knows a thing or two about heat.
I had promised Tessa that our interview would last no more than 15 minutes – and, of course, any good presenter would stick to that.
If it’s mandated by the promotion company, I absolutely will – but, more than anything, I love doing longer interviews, where you are really able to get to know the person, beyond what is contained in their press release.
I must say that Tessa was just incredible. We ended up talking for about half an hour and covered her early life in music, her friendship with Shawna (NanaLew on YouTube – check her out!) and all about the writing of Crush and the music video.
What I loved most about Tessa is how optimistic she is. I told her “your songs are great because they’re so filled with joy, then in the next second you’re ripping our hearts out.”
She laughed at that and I joked she should use it on the album.
I’m holding you to that, Tessa!
I cannot thank Tessa enough for her time and kindness in speaking to me...and I promise that you will love Crush as much as I do.
