A BARRHEAD tipple has been going down a treat at the House of Commons.

Thirsty politicians were able to enjoy a pint of Goldihops, made by the Kelburn Brewing Company, at the Strangers’ Bar after it was chosen as ‘ale of the week.’

The bar offers two cask ales when the House is sitting, with MPs able to request a specific beer from their constituency.

East Renfrewshire MP Paul Masterton requested the fruity ale so he could give his colleagues a taste of Barrhead.

He said: “It has been great to be able to promote a Kelburn beer down in Westminster.

“I introduced colleagues from all parties to a bit of East Renfrewshire. They found out what we already know – that this constituency produces the best ale in the UK.”

David Moore, owner of Kelburn Brewing Company, added: “We were delighted to have Goldihops being poured in the House of Commons.

“I trust that those who sampled our award-winning beer enjoyed the experience.”
