A BARRHEAD woman who was appointed a Queen’s Nurse in light of her "compassionate care" has been formally recognised at Westminster.
Kate McConville, 29, was praised by East Renfrewshire MP Paul Masterton after being named as just one of 20 UK nurses selected for a nine-month Queen’s Nursing Institute Scotland development programme.
She was recognised alongside fellow East Renfrewshire residents Hilary Alba and Anne Burns.
Conservative politician Mr Masterton has since lodged a motion to commend Kate’s efforts.
It read: “That this House congratulates residents Hilary Alba, Kate McConville and Anne Burns on being awarded the title of Queen’s Nurse; notes that this appointment by the Queen’s Nursing Institute Scotland was in recognition of Ms McConville’ s high-quality and compassionate care across several care homes; notes that the prestigious title of Queen’s Nurse is associated with excellence in the medical profession and awarded only to a select group of individuals.”
