PROGRESS is being made on the new multi-million pound Barrhead High School.
The new-build secondary school will accommodate 800 pupils and 100 places for vocational education together with associated sports pitches and infrastructure.
Kirsten Oswald MP visited the site of the new school as part of the Open Doors initiative – which allows people to see how buildings and structures in their community are built – and praised the standard of the work so far.
She told the News: “It was fantastic to see the progress being made on the construction of the new Barrhead High School, which looks on course to be a state-of-the-art facility, befitting the aspirations of our excellent students in Barrhead.
“The tour was very interesting and I was pleased to hear that the team is confident the new school will be open in time for the 2017/18 school year.
“Open Doors Week is a useful initiative informing people about construction in their area and inspiring future generations to work in the construction industry. I would like to thank those concerned for such an informative tour.”
BAM Construction is overseeing the demolition of the existing high school.
