Stephen McFall lashed out at 69-year-old Isobel McFall in July this year.
The 39-year-old punched her on the head during a bust-up at the family home in Clarkston.
He also shouted and swore at, and made threats towards, his mum, his 63-year-old dad, Phillip, and his sister, Gillian during the incident.
McFall admitted his shameful behaviour when he appeared in the dock at Paisley Sheriff Court.
He pleaded guilty to two charges while prosecutors agreed to drop two others.
He admitted assaulting his mum and threatening her, as well as threatening his dad and sister.
Prosecutors had claimed he’d pushed Gillian on the body, causing her to fall onto a TV, punched her on the head and then pushed her onto a fireplace.
He was also said to have lay on top of his dad when he was on the floor and tried to punch him on the head.
Sheriff Derek Livingston called for McFall to be assessed by social workers ahead of sentencing and adjourned the case until later this month.
McFall will also be assessed over his suitability for a Restriction of Liberty Order, which would see him given an electronic tag and required to stay in his home every night.
McFall could be jailed for as long as 12 months when he returns to court to learn his fate.
