Dad-of-three John Woods, from Elderslie, was driving his Kia car northbound on the A736 Lochlibo Road, near Burnhouse Village, Beith, Ayrshire when he was involved in a head on collision with an articulated lorry. Emergency services attended the scene, near Burnhouse Village, Beith, Ayrshire, at around 1.30pm last Tuesday but sadly the 42 year-old died at the scene.
Mr Woods, who is survived by his partner Alison Weir as well as his children, was a keen ice hockey enthusiast and a season ticket holder at Glasgow Elite League side the Braehead Clan.
And in a moving gesture, the Braehead Ice Hockey Clan held a minute’s silence in his memory before their game with Edinburgh Capitals on Saturday.
A spokesman for the team said: “Everyone at Braehead Clan was shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic news on Tuesday.
“Our thoughts are with John’s friends and family.”
