A RISING rugby star - who came through the ranks at Whitecraigs - has been left in dreamland after being called up to the full Scotland squad for the first time.

Jon Welsh is one of three uncapped players to make it into head coach Andy Robinson's 34-man Six Nations squad.

And the 24-year-old Glasgow Warriors loosehead prop, who has been rewarded for his impressive displays in the Magners League, is determined to make the most of his opportunity at a three-day training camp in St Andrews, which started on Monday.
