He told Barrhead Sport: “I really am in the shape of my life for this fight, I’m feeling stronger than ever and my fitness levels are through the roof.

“This fight will be the biggest fight of my career to date and there’s a lot on the line. If I win this then it puts me well and truly on the world stage and opens up a multitude of opportunities for me.

“It’s a must win for me so my training has been hyped up quite considerably. I can’t even begin to contemplate losing but trust me there will be fireworks.” JR’s manager Vinnie McWilliams reckons his man is on course to go all the way in the sport.

He added: “This is the fight we have been waiting for, when JR wins this it allows me to start chapping on the door of the official WBC titles and the massive fights that are available at world level.

“Abdoul Toure and Ricardo Luiz are our qualifiers so to speak and once we get past Ricardo we will be in the Champions League of the fight world.

“Ricardo is a must win for JR but I’m more than confident in his abilities, when you consider his performance against Abdoul Toure who is a world class fighter I’m sure we can replicate that performance on Saturday.

“I think we pulled a master stroke when we teamed JR up with Fight coach Lloyd Cochran, the both of them just seem to have clicked and the proof is in the performances, I really can’t wait till Saturday.” The event takes place at the Lagoon Arena in Paisley, JR still has tickets left so you can get intouch with him through Facebook or Twitter. Tickets are £30 and the doors open at 4pm. This is looking like thee best fight card to grace Scotland this year, reminiscent of the massive ESU events that once graced the venue.
